A granular semi-refined grade carrageenan kettle finings derived from certain types of seaweed. It is a sulphated polysaccharide which complexes with undesirable protein fractions. It is usually added towards the end of the boil and aids in wort clarification resulting in benefits also in later steps.
The advantages:

• Clearer must, reduces the addition of fining agents in subsequent steps
• Increases the rate of fermentation and attenuation
• Improved filter performance
• Longer shelf life, especially in smaller formats

• It is a technological aid, it is not an additive (it must not be declared on the label)
• 5-10% more efficient than equivalent products
